Dr. Rouse is a specialist in Periodontics (treatment of gum diseases and conditions) and has extensive experience with dental implants. The following services are offered in our office:

Treatment of Periodontal (gums and surrounding bone) Disease:

Gum disease weakens the gums and leads to tooth loss. Research evidence has shown links between periodontal disease and other systemic diseases such as diabetes, coronary artery disease and low birth weight in newborns. With proper periodontal treatment, however, gum disease can be prevented and controlled.

Dental Implants:

Dental implants look and function like natural teeth. A dental implant can be placed to replace a single missing tooth and several implants can be placed to support a fixed bridge eliminating the need for a removable partial denture. They can also provide a secure foundation for a complete denture or removable partial denture which will also prevent further deterioration of the jaw.  In some cases, bone regenerative (augmentation) procedures may be needed prior to the placement to the implants.

Bone Augmentation Procedures:

For patients who do not have sufficient bone to support dental implants and to regrow bone around teeth to eliminate pockets.

Periodontal Plastic Surgery:

Some people have teeth that appear too short or too long. A procedure called “crown lengthening” can be performed to expose more of the crown of the tooth to give a natural, better looking smile. For teeth that have recession, “soft tissue grafts” and other root coverage procedures are designed to cover the exposed roots and give a more healthy and youthful appearance to the teeth. The exposed roots are also more susceptible to decay than the enamel surfaces, therefore this is also a cavity prevention procedure.
